I often find that the trials and tribulations of the office environment are easier to cope with when you have a holiday to look forward to. Running up to Christmas the prospect of the festive break gets you through some of the darker day of November and December. In the early part of the year having a summer holiday planned, booked and paid for makes me a happier man.

So I need to take a weekend break from my normal activities and instead sit down in front of my PC and go through as many travel website as possible. In essence become a travel agent for a weekend. If I do it well I should be able to get booked up this weekend and a hopefully get a good deal.

The Yorkshire Dales is a fantastic place for a holiday for the whole family – and of course that includes your dog.

With hundreds of miles of footpaths, and some of the finest scenery England has to offer, what could be better than a dog-friendly break in the Yorkshire Dales this year?

Here are a few things to think about when out and about with your dog in this area:

Keep your dog on a short lead from March to July in areas where there may be ground-nesting birds around as they are easily disturbed.

There are many stiles in the Dales, if your dog can’t get over them, he’ll need to be lifted over.

Be sure to keep your dog under close control (ideally on a lead) around sheep – as the Dales is a big sheep-farming area.

Be careful of sink-holes which exist in some areas – it’s safest to keep your dog to the paths in case the fall down one.

Be sure to book one of the many pet-friendly hotels in the Yorkshire Dales, and have a fantastic time.

I have just returned from Ibiza after a weekend of what can only be described as carnage, for my best mates stag do. We are losing him to the dark side later this month and so I wanted to give him a last taste of freedom and fun before he is gone forever. Last week my neighbor and i was chatting over the fence when she told me she was soon off on a long awaited holiday. If it was not for our neighbors we would never have thought of looking.
